Fitting that my first article/ blog (or whatever you people call it) is about a blockbuster deal that includes the Nets. Remember when the Nets had the Carmelo Anthony deal? Or the time Dwight Howard was basically a Net? Instead we got Deron Williams! ( great job Billy) and Gerald Wallace ( WTF Billy)
Now the Nets and Celtics are on the verge of completing a MEGA deal that would send Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry/ Courtney Lee to the Nets for Gerald Wallace, (LOLOLOLOL) Kris Humpries, (Really Danny Ainge) Keith "corner- three" Bogans, Marshon Brooks (NOOOOOO), TOKO, and three future first round picks.
(I WISH I COULD SEE BILL SIMMIONS FACE RIGHT NOW)
Breaking It Down:
KG: This is the most important player in the deal. KG has an instant impact with the Nets. He'll open up the floor spacing with his ability to hit the mid range jump shot. This elimates the possibly of teams double teaming Lopez in the post like the Bulls did in the first round. His impact on defense will be huge the Nets will finally be able to defend the Pick N Roll!!! He's a fantastic rebounder as well. KG also brings a heart to this team which it lacked last year. Brook Lopez would benefit so much from KG as well, plus Brook Lopez reading Comic books to Garnett just blows my mind.
Paul Pierce: It's Paul Pierce!!! This is a major upgrade over Gerald Wallace offensively this again helps with the floor spacing you actually have to cover Pierce off ball unlike Wallace. Defensively
who cares it's Paul Pierce sure he'll get put on roller blades every once in awhile. Just ask Joe Johnson. The Nets now have another closer. Pierce is cold-blooded and isn't afraid to take a shot with the game on the line! It's gonna be tough to root for Pierce since him and I have had a rivalry for the last 7 years. But I'll be the better guy and end it now.
Jason Terry: As I'm writing this it's a sure thing that Terry will be in the deal not Lee. UGH! I'm not gonna crush this part of the deal because the Nets are getting KG and Pierce so if we have to take a guy who forgot to play basketball it's okay. Terry is known to bring energy and scoring off the bench.
Last year he forgot how to shot the 3 which is Jason Terry's game. Now I would have preferred Courtney Lee he has the ability to hit a three and plays great defense.
Billy King: You've been in my doghouse ever since you traded Harrison Barnes ( the 6th overall pick ) for Gerald Wallace. BUT if you can make this deal happen you will forever have a place in my heart until the next time you do something dumb.
Gerald Wallace: I guess this is the main piece for the Celtics in the deal? They are receiving a 30 year old who can't shot, can't make a lay-up and is owed 30 MILLION DOLLARS OVER THE NEXT 3 YEARS!!!! Danny Ainge what are you doing?!?! This is an awful trade all around for the C's. they aren't even making a salary dump since they're receiving Wallace.
Kris Humpries: Let's not forget Hump averaged a double double in the 2011-2012 season. He has an expiring deal at 12 million dollars which will help the Celtics in free agency next year. I believe Hump will put up good numbers in Boston if he can find himself. Last year in Brooklyn he got lost in the scuffle of all the new pieces. If Hump has a great first half he can become a nice asset for the Celtics. Who could trade him at the deadline to a contending team.
Marshon Brooks: This one hurts! Marshon is fan favorite in Brooklyn every time he checked into a game during the playoffs a Marshon Brooks chant would start. He can score at will and I believe he can average 18 points if ever started. As for his defense lets not talk about that. This is the one piece that can actually help Boston in the future.
Kris Joesph: Kris Joesph returns to the team that drafted him the Boston Celtics. I think Joesph can be good NBA player still needs to develop. he could help the Celtics out down the road.
Keith RoleStarHipHop Bogans: Bogans was left out of the Nets playoff rotation in favor of Jerry Stackhouse, when that happened I didn't expect him to return to the Nets now he's on his way out. He will be an assest the Celtics can trade at the deadline. He plays great Defense and can hit the corner three all day.
Draft Picks 14,16,18: The 2014 pick won't be anything special it will be in the 23rd to 26th range. the 2016 pick could have vaule but that's too far ahead to predict and the 2018 pick is even farther.
In conclusion: Boston what are you doing?!?!?!?
Coming up I'll be preview free agency.
